Tefilla  - Grevious Anguish (1998)

Heavy and thick groove thrash with some death tones and progressive elements are what we have on this excellent metal disc from the Netherlands. The music is mostly mid-paced thrash. Thick heavy guitar riffs abound with some similarities at times to bands like Sepultura and I even heard a neat Tourniquet style part in one song. I really like the vocals here. The closest comparison I can come up with is Fear Factory style vox, not quite death but not hardcore either. The vocals sound smooth and not strained and compliment the music well. I have heard this band is not together anymore and that kinda sucks cause I hear a ton of potential here. The only complaint I had with this disc was that there was no lyric sheet, so I have no clue as to what they are singing about. -- Review by Norm
