Shout  - It Won't Be Long/In Your Face (1988, re-issue 1999)

This collection is the epitome of pop-metal that was huge at the time of it's original release (late 80's). The music is comparable to bands like Slaughter, Firehouse, Mr. Big, and Damn Yankees. The guitars have big catchy hooks and fiery leads accentuated by the use of keyboards and tough sounding drums. Vocalist Ken Tamplin was the mastermind behind this band. Ken (who went on to do the highly acclaimed Magdalen project) sings in a mid-range voice and makes the music sound unique as his vocals are a bit more "manly" sounding than some of his higher
range contemporaries. Layered vocal melodies and squeaky clean production make these albums a rock radio dream. -- Review by Norm
