Although usually labeled "rap-core" by the media, Project 86 is one of those bands that defies labels. They are more of a hybrid or mixture of styles ranging from rapcore to aggro-metal with a lot
of emotion. The music is thick, heavy and driving with plenty of groove. Project 86 has stamped their own signature on this sound. The vocals are harsh and angst filled at one moment but then make sharp turn to the emotional side
sounding eerily similar to Mark Soloman of Stavesacre. They have also added some harmonies on the choruses on this cd and the songs are more varied than on their first release. I still like their first effort a little better (most
people seem to like this one better). If you are into the slammin sounds and big production of modern hard bands like Sevendust, Kitty, P.O.D., and Rage Against the Machine then Project 86 is for you. -- Review by Norm |
