Narcissus - ...And Forthwith Came out Blood and Water (2000)
This is some seriously intense metalcore! The lyrics are kinda abstract, at least from my viewpoint. A lot of thought and feeling went into the recording of this 5 song (25 min. long) ep. The vocals combine the trademark hXc scream-style with some emotional rasp and then belt it out with a full blown, strained and agonizing "shriek". The guitars are thick and chunky with mid-paced groove and an overwhelming abundance of metallic influence along the lines of Living Sacrifice. This is not for the average metal head. If however you are into bands like Zao, xdisciplex, TFU and Underoath I can safely say that you will dig Narcissus. -- Review by Norm
