Lament - Through The Reflection (1998)
This is the second release from this Mexican based metal band. Their first cd "Tears of a Leper" was melodic death metal in the vein of bands like Amorphis. "Through the Reflection" is a turn in a new and more progressive direction. This is almost a "power metal" recording with strong Iron Maiden styled melodies and clear pronounced bass lines. The vocals this time around are handled by drummer Abel Gomez and are more mid-range similar to In Flames. I really like this recording overall but by the end of the cd you kinda get bored as the songs sound sort of the same without a lot of variation. The production here is great and the future of Lament sounds good! -- Review by Norm
