Groms - Ascension (1996)
When one thinks of death metal, they think superb musicianship, heavy guitars, rough growly deep vocals, and raw powerful drums! Groms is just that! From Norway, these death metal meistro's have released what I can consider a death metal masterpiece It does say alot, but the fact remains in this cd entitled "Ascension". 9 tracks of death metal the old fashioned way! These guys have taken an already produced style and made it their own. Although sometimes sounding like older Immolation in a musical sense, they have it down. Harmonics, acoustic interludes, deep growls, and yet even the same guitar sound that Immolation possesses. The drums are raw, but they pound out some killer beats! Truly death metal the way it should be! If you don't have this, you are missing out! -- Review by Shannon
