Gnashing of Teeth  - Gnashing of Teeth (2000)

I wasn't expecting to like this a whole lot but after repeated listens I can safely say this Ohio based aggro-metal-core band have come up with a competent and modern sounding album. The closest comparison I can make is that the style of the music (and even the vocals at times) is a lot like Erase, Korn or Mindrage except GoT have a lot more tempo changes. Thick downtuned guitar grooves and some harmonic squeal give this cd a modern feel while still retaining elements of traditional hardcore and metal. The vocals are very diverse but mainly of the hardcore variety and feature an occasional blast of guttural death. Vocally they also incorporate elements of rap-core, and at times are clear and emotional sounding, similar to the guy from Coal Chamber. Overall this cd ought to do very well for Rowe Productions. -- Review by Norm
