Feast Eternal  - Prisons Of Flesh (1999)

This Michigan based trio churns out grinding death metal that has enough melodic structure and groove to satisfy listeners of all types of heavy music. The melodic side of this band can be traced to influences from bands like In Flames with a brutal sound akin to bands like Cannibal Corpse. A mix of classic death metal guitar riffs and modern melodic tones give this CD a unique flavor and set it apart from others in this genre. The guitars are tuned down to B so there is a deep and full sound. Vocalist T.J. alternates between low guttural growls and a higher pitched rasp. Lyrically these guys are a fine example of where Christian metal is and should be going. The lyrics are neither watered down nor are they cheesy. The words contained within are mature, open, and heartfelt. the song "Forgetting God" contains the following verse: "Here on this mountain I stand crying, crying. This fallen one. I who turned my back and forgotten God. Rebellious child, weary of idols and sin. Lord heal me again. By you alone I swear my life, the living God. pour out your blood."  -- Review by Norm
