Fasedown - Fasedown  (2001)

This band features former members of The Crucified and Deliverance but don't expect this to sound anything like those bands. Fasedown plays gut-level metalcore that slams the listeners senses and leaves you begging for more! The sound is not at all dated but very competent and modern. The music here is heavy groove filled hardcore metal mixed with classic thrash sensibilities. This debut cd from Fasedown has enough bite and chainsaw attitude to remove a limb! This will surely have you moshing around your living room! The guitar part at the begining of the song "Seven" reminded me a little of the song "Walk" by Pantera. The vocal delivery is in the hardcore vein with influences from bands like Pantera and Soulfly. Throughout the majority of this cd the sound is distinctly similar to Pantera chugging along like a runaway train going off the tracks. The production is good but could have been a tad better. The band still manages to produce a great wall of sound that should appeal to fans of all styles of modern metal and fans of classic thrash inspired metal as well. -- Review by Norm
