Embodyment - 1993-1996 Demo's (1999)

Texas is a striving state for a death metal scene in which a lot of death/grind bands are coming out of. One that used to be in this vein is Embodyment. Embodyment's 1993-1996 demos shows alot of brutality. Very btutal death metal that had alot of potential. This cd is packed full of killer riffs, brutal tight grinding drums that are overly impressive, and some intense vocals! Lots of this is a combination of Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse style death metal which had stagnated the scene around this time frame but this still is a very interesting album. 10 tracks in all and 9 of which are all packed with layered vocals. At times the deeper vocals sound a little strained but they get back on track. It isn't a major flaw unless you really listen closely. The higher pitched vocals that layer with the deep growls add alot more intensity although I think they do it a little much on here. Overall a pretty good album that I would recommend to anyone into Cannibal Corpse and Suffocation or for someone that has never heard them and is wanting to experience some good death metal. -- Review by Shannon
