Awake - Awake (2000)
This Oklahoma City based band will have a familiar sound to fans of Eternal Decision, because vocalist Dave Perkins who fronts Awake also did about half the vocals on E.D.'s latest project "Ghost in the
Machine". Now Dave is back with his own band and a
bit more mellow sound (imagine a laid back alternative version of Eternal Decision). Awake is a competent contender in the realm of modern hard rock and deliver an albums
worth of ministry oriented tunes. Influences from bands like Bush are evident in the vocals and musically some songs even have a kind of jangly pop feel ala Plankeye or old Skillet. This will appeal to fans of bands like Torn,
Creed, and even Eternal Decision. -- Review by Norm
